We are delighted to share that Bournemouth University has been shortlisted for the TIGA Excellence in Games Research Award for its work on the LoGaCulture project and the development of LUTE (LoGaCulture’s authoring tool for interactive cultural storytelling).
The TIGA Awards are among the most respected in the UK games industry, celebrating innovation and excellence across game development, education, and research. Being recognised at this level highlights the growing impact of LoGaCulture in connecting digital games with local heritage, culture, and community engagement.
At the heart of this recognition is LUTE, a unique tool designed by Bournemouth University researchers, led by Dr Charlie Hargood, within LoGaCulture to help creators, educators, and communities author their own playful, interactive cultural experiences. By making it easier to design location-based and heritage-inspired games, LUTE empowers more people to share stories of place and identity through play.
The shortlisting reflects the project’s commitment to exploring how games can be more than entertainment – becoming tools for cultural understanding, creativity, and learning.
The awards ceremony will take place later this year, and we look forward to celebrating the achievements of all the nominees who are shaping the future of games and research.
